Thing 5 - online reference management tools Endnote +Mendeley
It's been really rewarding to start the task for this thing. I learnt how easy it is to easily import references from a Zotero library into Mendeley. This is reassuring when I was trying both with little projects and then ending up with two different applications to confuse myself with.
The watch folder function is great - if you put your downloads folder as watched then you can organise all those pdfs and weed them as necessary. The videos demonstrating use of Mendeley were really helpful, being bite-sized and focussed on an area - for example in Mendeley you can add your publications to make them more visible online and create your own profile.
This is more like dipping into what these applications can do rather than exploring them in detail but (in a reflective aside) I guess it can all be one learning curve!
